Success Story-City of Lake Geneva ALPR(s) assist locating missing 3 month old from Mount Pleasant

Lake Geneva Police Chief Michael S. Rasmussen reports:  On Wednesday, June 6th, 2018 at approximately 8:46p.m., Officers received information that a 3 month old girl was missing from Mount Pleasant.  Mount Pleasant P.D. provided information to the City of Lake Geneva P.D. that the suspect, Craig Conway, 49 y/o, Mount Pleasant, may be in the City of Lake Geneva.

Mount Pleasant detectives searched a shared database that stores automated license plate recognition system (ALPRS) information and discovered two separate City of Lake Geneva P.D. patrol cars passed the vehicle Conway was driving within the City of Lake Geneva.

Officers recognized that the vehicle appeared to be parked by the Lake Geneva Public Library from the ALPR photos.  An officer immediately recognized a photo of Conway and indicated he observed Conway with the child on the Riviera Beach a short time prior while he was conducting foot patrol in the downtown business district.

Officers located the vehicle Conway was operating moments later on Wrigley Dr. south of Main St.  Officers remained with the vehicle if Conway returned with the child.  Officers began to search the downtown business district for Conway and the child.  Minutes later, An officer observed Conway and the child on the Riviera Beach.  Conway was confronted and taken into custody without incident.

Officers transported the child to the police department.  Conway was turned over to Mount Pleasant P.D. and the child was reunited with her mother at the City of Lake Geneva Police Department.
